Questions People Always Ask Us!
It just happened. When we started out in 2003, we wrote a list of names (some of which were very bad) - and we voted on them over a period of days. In the end, "Just A Band" won because it sounded silly, and we're silly.
And it's "Just A Band"; not JustABand, or Just-a-band, or Justabandwidth...
We 'produce' ourselves, we record in our house, we sing (not so much on Scratch To Reveal, a lot more on 82) and we play all the instruments.
Bill's main instrument was his guitar, but these days he spends a lot more time noodling on synthesizers. He also bought a banjo in Berlin.
Daniel didn't know how to play anything when we started out, but he bought himself a guitar and very quickly developed a distinctive chord structures and playing styles. He has recently begun noodling on the keyboards.
Jim learned classical piano in primary school from the age of 11, he dropped out soon after for some reason. His main instrument is the keyboards and the mouse (for virtual synths).
We've been called "a boy band", "a rock band" (really?), "a house outfit", "an Afro-electro-pop band"...
We don't have any one genre we can classify ourselves in. We like hip-hop, we like rock, we like house, some of us like country and drum and bass - and (hopefully) you'll find influences of all that in our music.
Why not? :)
